Daniel Duxbury, Head Coach and Program Director
Daniel Duxbury has served as Head Coach of Tempe Junior Crew since its inception in 2000. He began the program as an avenue for competition for his young rowers in the City of Tempe Parks and Recreation rowing program, which he founded in December of 1999. As Head Coach, Duxbury has guided Tempe Junior Crew from a small band of teenagers in rickety boats to a nationally recognized rowing club.
In 2006, Duxbury’s young rowers brought home two gold medals from the USRA Southwest Regional Junior Rowing Championships and a bronze from the USRA Youth National Championships. In 2007 Duxbury lead his team to a silver medal at the Brentwood International Regatta, two silver medals at the USRA Southwest Regional Junior Rowing Championships, and a silver medal at the prestigious USRA Youth National Championships. Additionally, Duxbury was selected to serve as the United States Junior National Team Coach for the Women’s 2x, which competed in Beijing, China at the 2007 FISA Junior Rowing World Championships.
In 2008
, under Duxbury’s leadership, TJC athletes have earned one gold, four silver and one bronze medal at the Brentwood International Regatta, two gold and two bronze medals at the 2008 USRA Southwest Regional Junior Rowing Championships and a gold medal at the 2008 USRA Youth National Championships. Duxbury was selected to serve as the 2008 Developmental Sculling Coach for the United States Women’s Junior National Team.
Duxbury began rowing in 1990 in Worcester, MA. As a competitor, he competed throughout North America and raced in such prestigious events as the Head of the Charles Regatta, The Dad Vail Regatta, and The Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. Duxbury holds a USRA Level III coaching certification, the highest offered. Daniel currently resides in Phoenix with his wife Susan.
